Tools & Techniques Expo 19 & 20 AUGUST 2008

In August 2008, AIPF will be launching our first ever national conference and inviting Australia’s leading learning and development professionals, service providers and sponsors to attend.

The aim of the Expo is to:

  • showcase the latest tools, techniques and resources available that will enhance the deliverables of trainers, facilitators, coaches and presenters
  • provide a great networking opportunity for learning and development professionals

DAY ONE - Main Sessions

  • Story-Based Approaches to Diagnosis:  Probing Culture through Story with Bob Dick - Southern Cross University

This session will examine the use of story-based techniques for the purposes of diagnosis.  Topics covered will include the elicitation of story, the use of fairy story, and history-based techniques.

  • Perspectives of Conflict in Facilitation and in Facilitating Change with  Dennis Dennis - Conflict Dynamics

One of the most challenging group dynamics for learning and development professionals is to navigate conflict.  It takes unique skills to facilitate the progress of meetings, alleviating any tension, so that people can get past their individual agendas and get on with the group work that needs to be done. This interactive session will provide facilitators with tools, techniques and greater awareness of how to respond when faced with conflict in a facilitative environment using the Conflict Dynamics Model.

  • Cartooning for Trainers with Julie Davey - ‘A’ for Attitude Productions

This interactive session will provide you with tricks and techniques to help you draw simple and effective cartoons.  Create cartoons to grab your learner’s attention, highlight key points and increase learning retention.

DAY TWO (Optional)

Attendees can choose from three accrediation workshops that are substantially discounted for the AIPF Expo.

  • Extended DISC – is a behavioural profiling tool with multiple applications that enables accredited professionals to help clients and organisations to recruit, train and retain with confidence using valid, accurate and reliable analysis and assessments.
  • Retention Optimiser an easy to use application that has been specifically developed to help organisations reduce employee turnover (without necessarily resorting to increased pay and conditions) – to retain good people, keep them committed, engaged and productive.
  • Conflict Dynamics – a profile tool developed to prevent harmful conflict in the workplace.  It provides managers and employees with greater awareness of how they respond when faced with conflict so that they can improve on behaviours causing the most problems. The CD Profile focuses on conflict behaviours, rather than styles and emphasises an action-oriented approach to reduce problems associated with harmful or unproductive conflicts and results in more effective conflict management skills.
