Marika Mulqueen is a 29 year old Product Design Engineer.  She works at the City of Melbourne in the industrial design team which looks after the design and installation of street furniture throughout the City of Melbourne. Marika has designed pieces for Northbank, Southbank, Docklands and the City. She also lectures at Swinburne University in Product Design and has made finalist in both the Australian Design Awards and the Premier's Design Awards for her Ovarian Cancer Screening Unit.

In late 2008 she decided to take up cycling as a bit of a hobby after not having ridden a bike for over six years. In June 2009 she rode the entire 2009 Tour de France route stage for stage to raise money for charity. It covered 3500km in 21 stages and took her through the Alps, the Pyrenees and over Mount Ventoux. She endured extreme heat, driving rain, unbelievable head winds and run ins with the police. She is now looking for her next challenge.
